Welcome to BODY-EFX.COM. Your body is a wonderful machine. Generally speaking, it can help us to have a fulfilling life when we administer it with proper nutrition, rest and exercise. It can also become a prison of a lifetime if overly neglected or abused.
Your framework (or skeletal system) provides the primary structure, which is comprised of over 200 bones, plus cartilage, ligaments and tendons; and is about 20 percent of your body weight. That makes up the base of your body. It also protects delicate organs such as the brain, heart and digestive system.
Thousands of miles of pipes (or capillaries) run throughout your body to feed each of your 100 trillion cells to help keep them alive and well.
Your body is powered by more than 600 muscles, which accounts for almost half of the body weight in some of us; and is ready to go to work when needed, while some (involuntary) muscles work day and night, and never stop until the end of life.
You also have in you, a fuel pump (better known as the heart) that pushes through 5 liters of blood every minute that you are alive.
The adult human body takes in fuel (or food) and processes it for its consumption through about 9 meters (or 29 feet) of tubes and organs. That makes up your digestive system. The solid portions of that food that is left over is excreted in 24 to 72 hours.
You also have millions of sensory receptors throughout your body to monitor outside changes such as temperature, light and sound, as well as internal changes. The sensory input sends electrical signals to your central processing unit (better known as the brain) . Pain is one of your strongest indicators that something is not right within your body.
Your five senses are complemented by your high intelligence, which, along with other factors, helps to make you the dominant species on planet earth. Our human body may not be the fastest, such as the cheetah, or can lift 850 times our own weight like the hercules beetle. When compared to other species, we do not even have the best hearing -- that belongs to the bat; or the best sense of smell -- bloodhounds have a sense of smell that is about 1 million times the sensitivity of ours. Even the intelligence of animals such as chimpanzees, could rival ours. Despite those facts, however, we are indeed, built to dominate this land. We can have ambition. We can create. We can set goals and achieve them. One of the most important goals that we should seek is pursuing or maintaining good health for improving the quality of life.
There is a plethora of reliable information that strongly suggests that proper nutrition, rest and exercise helps to improve your body's ability to function and fight disease; and thus increase the quality of, and the chance for long life. One of BODY-EFX's objectives is to promote good health through nutrition, rest and exercise.
